From where are you shipping?

We are mainly based in the US, but during the period from June 26 to October 22, 2013, we will ship orders from Japan. During this period, “standard shipping” means first class international mail (which usually takes 7-10 days), and “expedited shipping” means EMS (Express Mail usually takes 3-5 days). We highly recommend Japan Postal EMS, which is reasonable, speedy, and safe. Please note that you are responsible for all customs fees in your own country.

Why are there two prices?

For many of our DVDs, we provide two prices for Individuals and Institutions. DVDs bought at the Individual price are for home viewing only. The Institutions price includes as follows:

TERMS OF SALE FOR INSTITUTIONS

  1. Purchase of the DVD includes permission for non-theatrical performances in the classroom, at your institution, or in your library.
  2. The DVDs do not include theatrical public performances where there is a charge for admission.
  3. The DVDs do not come with interlibrary loan rights.
  4. The DVDs will not be rented or loaned for a fee, leased or sub-leased to others.
  5. Duplication and reproduction are prohibited
  6. The DVDs cannot be broadcast or televised.

Do we need an account at Amazon to pay?

We use the Amazon payment system for which you are required to have an account at Amazon. If for some reason you cannot use the system, contact us at order@zakafilms.com.

Can we order from all over the world?

The Amazon payment system can be conducted only for orders from the U.S., Canada, and Europe. If you would like to order from outside these areas, please consult with us first at order@zakafilms.com. For Noriaki Tsuchimoto’s DVDs (except The Shiranui Sea), individuals (but not institutions) from outside the U.S., Canadda, and Europe can quickly and easily purchase them at CD Baby, so access their site from our site to purchase them. The Roots of Japanese Anime can also be purchased there. Please note that you are responsible for all customs fee in your own country.

How does the shipping rate work?

Orders within the U.S. that select Standard Shipping will be sent by USPS Priority Mail, and Expedited Shipping will be sent by USPS Express Mail in the U.S. Please note that if we receive your order between 9am – 4pm Eastern Standard Time on a business day, we will ship the item the next day if it is a business day. Delivery usually takes 2-3 business days by Priority Mail and 1-2 business days by Express Mail.

For Canada and Europe, Standard Shipping means USPS First Class International Mail (it takes 10-20 days, but varies by destination), and Expedited Shipping means USPS International Express Mail (it takes 3-5 days). We highly recommend express mail because it is more secure.

Can we order by Check or Money Order?

If you want to pay by check or money order, we can ship your DVD after receiving a check from you. Institutions can only pay upon delivery. Before sending a check to us, please contact us first at order@zakkafilms.com. A check payable to ZAKKA FILMS should be drawn in U.S. dollars on a U.S. bank. The check must be sent to

Can we replace a DVD?

This policy is only for customers who directly purchase items from Zakka Films. If you made your purchase from Film Baby, please contact them at filmbaby@filmbaby.com since they have their own return and refund procedure.

Replacement
For domestic customers:
If you receive a damaged item, we will replace it at no cost within 10 calendar days of the shipping date. Replacements are not allowed after 10 days. Items damaged after purchase cannot be replaced. Please follow these steps for replacement:

  1. Please contact us first at order@zakkafilms.com
  2. Return the damaged disc in the envelope which we will provide.
  3. Make sure to include your original invoice in the envelope, along with everything in the original package (the case, booklet, disc, jacket cover), and mail the package to: Zakka Films, 45 Clifford Street, Hamden, CT 06517
  4. Please allow 2-4 business days for processing after we have received your return.
  5. You will receive an e-mail detailing your replacement information.

For international customers:
Please contact us within 12 days of the shipping date.

Can we return a DVD and get a refund?

For domestic customers:
Returns are allowed if you contact us within 10 calendar days of the shipping date and the item is in its original condition. Refunds/returns can also be made if the item is defective or damaged during delivery and you contact us within 10 calendar days of the shipping date. Refunds are contingent upon inspection of the item once we receive it. Customers are responsible for all shipping and related fees if the seller is not at fault. Returns/refunds will not be allowed if you do not contact us within 10 days of the shipping date.

For international customers:
